Welcome to “THE WAYFINDER”!
THE WAYFINDER is an exciting adventure that takes you to the islands of Hawai'i, where you will meet Kamai, a girl your age who is learning how to guide a sailing canoe on the ocean by following the stars. She is a real-life Moana! You will also learn about Hawai'i and what it's like to live on an island. Before we dive into this adventure, let’s go over a few things, so you know what to expect.
How to Navigate the Course
Each lesson is made up of text, videos, pictures and activities. You will go through these sections and do activities with a group of fellow students who will be your “crew”. You'll also be invited to share your thoughts and ideas with your crew, your class and students, who are doing the same lessons in other schools.
Do It Together!
As you go through each page, do it all with your crew (unless it's a SOLO ACTIVITY). Take turns reading the paragraphs aloud. That way you're all steering the canoe in the same direction!

GLOSSARY
This indicates glossary items, where you will find definitions of key words.
DISCUSS
This will be followed by some questions to discuss with your crew. First, discuss your answers to each question with your crew. Sometimes the whole class will come together to share ideas.
CREW ACTIVITY
This tells you it's time to do an activity with your crew!
SOLO ACTIVITY
This means it's something to do on your own.
SHARE & COMPARE (online)
This invites you to connect with people who are part of the World Wise community. You can share your messages and pictures from own life, and explore what others share about theirs.
To SHARE & COMPARE, click on the “SHARE” tab and put your messages into the text box. You can also upload pictures. Please be aware that all World Wise learners will be able to see the pictures you post, so only upload pictures that you feel comfortable sharing.
You will only see messages within the current lesson under the “SHARE” tab.
To see all the messages from World Wise learners, you can also check out the “Community” page. This is located in the menu, which can be opened by clicking on the following symbol on the top left of your page:
